Help The Poor (HTP) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt humanitarian organization based in Orange County USA since 01-01-2001. Founded by Reverend Father Mai Khai Hoan, HTP has been guided by a board of directors.

Our Mission

Is to demonstrate compassionate love by alleviating human need and suffering of our brothers & sisters in Vietnam, without regard to their religious or political affiliations.

In efforts to relieve human suffering, a large number of volunteers in the US, around the World as well as in Vietnam have organized and rallied efforts to combat hunger, deprivation and physical affliction with the provision of food, clothing, shelter, medical care and other basic necessities of life. We believe in facilitating the development of healthy, vibrant and self-sustaining communities by addressing larger issues of education, food security, potable water, employment, community health, and disaster mitigation projects. Our emphasis is to help the poor not only physically but also spiritually, to help provide the fishing lines and not to focus on donating the fishes.

What we do

We organize fund raisers and serve as intermediary between our donors and the people they seek to help. With that understanding in mind, HTP maximizes the efficacy of every dollar of funding through networking outside and inside of Vietnam.

We actively seek out worthwhile projects in VN manned by passionate volunteers including priests & nuns, monks, religious leaders, teachers, compassionate individuals in all fields.

We monitor our projects closely and strive to strecth our funding by involving the local workforce under the watchful monitoring of our local and experienced volunteers.

Heath and dental care for the poor in remote vilages.

Health Care:

We support Health & Hygiene projects to improve the health of the economically disadvantaged people :
- Funding for Health personnel i.e. doctors, dentists, nurses v…v… to travel to remote areas with inadequate access to health care.
- Construction & funding of medical clinics
- Support projects to restore eyesight to the Blind & funding for eye surgeries.
- Help establish emergency health relief funds & safe Blood Bank
- Funding for reconstructive surgeries (cleft palate, orthopedic deformities…)
- Funding for surgeries such as heart, kidney, uterine…

Relief aids to the poor victims of natural disasters.

Aid & Disaster Relief Projects:

Providing short-term relief : food, clothing and other material assistance to families, the elderly, widows & orphans facing financial hardship caused by natural disasters.
Wheelchairs program
Home building for the economically disadvantaged
Lending programs to fund individual projects.

Scholarships for students from poor families in remote areas.
